INTRODUCTION -

HIV/AIDS PANDEMIC IN THE CHURCH.

HIV/AIDS pandemic has left many homes with severe hardship and anguish. In the church, it is more disheartening, shameful and viewed with disdain since the HIV/AIDS mode of transmission is generally attributed to sexual promiscuity. This sinful exploit is an abominable sin before God and never tolerated in the Christian community.

From research, it has been confirmed that there are clergymen, choristers, church leaders who are infected with the deadly virus and as a cover-up have lost their faith, or are highly stigmatized by members. Other members who are infected are not left out.

National Statistical Data proves that youths between the ages of 12 & 25 years record the highest group infected by this virus. However, these age groups comprise bulk of the workforce of the church and are the most active in accomplishing evangelistic objectives.

Given the conviction that INTEGRITY is a critical attribute "UNITED CHRISTIAN ACTION FOR HEALTH" has therefore been designed to capture the biblical approaches in leadership towards attitudinal and behavioral change as an effective and efficient technique in the war against HIV/AIDS with special emphasis on Christian Teenage groups and Christian Youth Leaders.
